    Sleeping While Angry

    By | May 18, 2008

“Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry” (Ephesians 4:26).

Let’s continue to talk about how forgiveness can help you succeed or not in business.  The passage for today has always had a profound affect in my life.  In fact, I’ve changed it to not only not want to let the sun go down while I’m angry, but I don’t even want my loved one to leave the house for any period of time while I’m angry.  In my mind this has always translated to the possibilty that something could happen to a person I really like or care about (such as her dying during the day or night) and I’d have to live with the fact that the last words between us were angry ones.

So how does this translate to the workplace, forgiveness, and success? Keeping angry thoughts starts to make your mind leave a clear path.  In other words, instead of concentrating on the goals set for your business in general, you start to think about how to conduct business activities in a manner that allows you to get revenge on the object of your anger.

Focus enough on revenge and that becomes the focus of your work goals.  You work to get revenge.  Think it sounds odd?  Consider when another person is angry and that person is in a position of authority over another in the workplace.  Schedules and activity levels can be shifted to cause hardships to those the angry authority person doesn’t like.  Even worse, people can be fired or downsized based on angry feelings instead of fairness and equity in the workplace.

Anger is a powerful emotion that can affect all parts of your life.  Learn to take seriously the truth that the sun should not set while you are angry. Do you this is possible?  Leave your comments below.
