Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3

Every Christian business women should strive to become a good leader in her business.  I love the topic of leadership. My doctoral research was on women’s leadership styles which is why I enjoy working with women in leadership today.

But when it comes to leading your business, many steps can be shared about how to go about this task; what to do first, next and so on. The question a Christian business woman must ask herself however, is who is really leading your business? It is important to stop, consider, and be sure you are listening to the right leader in your life. Make that leader your Lord.

Leading on your own without spiritual guidance isn’t unusual. To be honest, many of us do this everyday. With all of the responsibilities of leading a business, it’s common to spend the night thinking about the tasks that will meet you as soon as you get up, or these might even end up making you get up early without a good night’s rest. Before you realize it, you can be halfway through your day before you’ve uttered one word of prayer. Sometimes, there can be so much stress involved with daily activities, that you find yourself struggling to keep calm. It can also lead to conflict with workers, bosses, or clients. Tempers may flare, bad decisions could be made, anxiety might reach an all time high.

Instead of falling into traps set by the world, stop to schedule prayer into your day.

Actually write a time on your daily calendar when you will stop to bow your head in prayer. You might need to leave your work station to pray or just take a silent moment to do so.  The point is to take concentrated time to talk to your real leader.

When I commuted to work each day or drove to a meeting, it was a perfect time for me to It was a great time to talk to the Lord. When things got rough or a difficult decision needed to be made, I got into the habit of turning to the real boss of my life.

It didn’t come naturally to do this; thinking about prayer first isn’t what’s taught in most business schools! It’s up to you as a woman of God to do the right thing.

And why wouldn’t you? It’s a high privilege to walk right into the top CEO’s presence whenever you want to ask a question, or to sit down, talk and just express yourself. The true CEO has the answers to let you see the big picture when you get stuck in the small stuff.  You can rise above the world and see things from a spiritual perspective that sheds light on the material natural world. Why pass up the opportunity to go right to the head person? Yet too often busy business women must remember to do this on a daily basis, to not end up feeling all alone, without a friend, mentor, or guidance.

Make prayer a part of your daily tasks. You can just talk about your day, express how things are going, talk as if to your best friend. If this is a new idea, I challenge you to start this today.
