Here’s something good for you today: “The diligent find freedom in their work; the lazy are oppressed by work.” (Prov. 12:24, Peterson)

This idea really speaks to the type of attitude a Christian business woman should have. Being diligent means to stay the course no matter the obstacles or until you get a new direction to take. In planning your day, dedicate all of it to the Lord and keep your eyes on the prize that you’ve been promised.

You probably know a lot of people who choose to not be diligent in their work. Their attitude is very different from those who love their work, even when they’re tired or not seeing immediate results from their efforts. The non-diligent are easily discouraged and need a lot of motivation from others to keep going. They often complain about their work and talk about doing something else.

While this can describe those who work for others, it can be worse with entrepreneurs.  Those striving to succeed as an independent business professional will face difficult times. Without diligence it will be difficult to keep moving forward. Being on your own in a business takes stamina, courage, and the fortitude to keep moving forward. Without these characteristics, success will be hard to achieve.

On the other side, having a diligent nature can bring a real sense of peace from working hard. That peace comes from reaching seeing results from your efforts despite the inevitable challenges that will be faced in business. Instead of seeing the negative, costumers get served with a smile if it’s in person or online. Even tough times provide lessons that only make work easier on the next try.

Think about your attitude as you work. Are you being diligent in all that you do or do you feel oppressed by hard work? Are you feeling joy in your heart as you move through your day, knowing you’re never alone in your pursuits? Remember, the diligent are the ones that find freedom in their work – and that’s a promise!  Have a great day of work.
